Smithfield Stoke on Trent
FK Group completed the external façade on the new City Council offices at Hanley, comprising in excess of 600 Schüco 65SG unitised panels, for which 9 bespoke profiles were developed.
The unique two-phase unitised section is the first of its kind, and was the subject of 2 ½ months of exhaustive testing to ensure weather-tightness and resistance to wind pressure. Smithfield also incorporates automatic parallel opening vents and a series of architectural plant-on features.
Stoke’s new £40m council offices are part of a 100,000 sq ft five storey complex, the striking geometric cladding design being inspired by the work of iconic ceramics designer Clarice Cliff.
