Project Barley – Waitrose
This state-of-the-art national distribution centre for Waitrose at Magna Park is one of the largest in the UK, covering a site of 45 acres, and handles the distribution of around 25,000 nationally available grocery and home department lines.
A new end lap fixing method developed for this project helped to achieve an impressive result for the building’s air tightness of 0.5 m³/hr/m². The client’s target was 1, with the industry best practice considered to be around 3. As a result the annual carbon saving for this building alone is 39,000kg of CO².
