East Manchester Academy

The Academy is in a new purpose-built, state-of-the-art learning facility that is also home to the local district library as well as other important community facilities. The school is the first academy school in the Manchester region, and part of an extensive long term regeneration programme in the east of the city.

As the building was primarily designed as a learning facility, FK was tasked with meeting several specific requirements – particularly in terms of acoustic insulation.

We installed an enhanced performance roofing system, comprising three layers of acoustic boards, an anti-drumming layer and acoustic bridges between classrooms, to protect against the noise of rain and sound transfer between the multiple classrooms.
