IT Support Technician
Job Purpose
To maintain the IT function, ensuring that IT systems are maintained and developed to support the needs of the business with prompt resolution of all IT issues and to ensure the business can operate as efficiently as possible. To co-operate and work with members of staff to assist in problem solving, the maintenance of equipment to ensure continuity in their respective job roles and improve business outcomes. Assist and proactively evaluate existing business processes and IT systems, uncovering areas for improvement, and assist with implementing solutions to further business objectives that contribute to the growth of the business.
Main Duties
- Resolve IT tickets in a timely manner.
- Ensure data is backed up to enable recovery within as little downtime as possible.
- Ensure all IT equipment that is provided to users meets their requirements.
- Undertake all maintenance activities for IT equipment, to ensure the hardware continues to work efficiently.
- Adapt communication skills dependent on the users technical ability.
- Undertake project work to continue to improve the department and business, ensuring deadlines are adhered to; and where deadlines cannot be met, is proactive in seeking support to deliver the objective.
- Work in a collaborative way with colleagues in the IT team, and wider business to ensure efficient ways of working.
- Manage own time effectively to achieve deadlines and service level agreements.
- Have a good understanding of the FK business to help deliver the best outcomes for the organisation.
- Provide guidance to other team members to support them.
- Carry out all reasonable duties as directed by the management team.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues.
- Repair and replace damaged computer and network components.
- Ensure the security of client and server computers by upgrading and maintaining antivirus and firewall software.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, guides and manuals regularly.
- Provide training and support to users on various IT systems and applications where necessary.
- Support our own in house software application “FK Connect” and any future developing software.
- Assist with IT projects and assist implementing new technologies where needed.
- Maintain the server room and plant room to ensure equipment is recycled responsibly and correctly.
- General organisation of the server room, plant room and storage cupboards.
- Occasional site and office visits.

Experience
- Proven experience as an IT Support Technician or similar role with at least 1 year experience.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, Software and network systems.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Hold relevant certifications such as but not limited to:
- CompTIA A+
- Microsoft Certified Professional
- Power BI and Jet reports experience would be an advantage
