Ocado Erith

Ocado’s 563,000 sq ft Erith centre is the largest automated warehouse for online groceries in the world – the £185 million investment is expected to create 3,500 jobs.

As well as direct deliveries to homes in the region, the centre will support a network of existing distribution facilities around the south east of England, handling around 200,000 orders per week.

FK was tasked with installing the single envelope for the coldstore distribution warehouse, and on this project we achieved ground breaking record level of air tightness on the building.

The exacting nature of the air tightness rating is vital for a coldstore of this scale – in terms of cost and energy savings, and minimising the building’s carbon footprint.
